Stay Safe in the Summer Sun
It’s officially summer time here in the Atlanta-ish area. So that means it’s time for the pool, lake, or beach, plus lots of time spent outside playing, working or exercising. That means that now is the perfect time to get in the habit of protecting your skin from harmful sun exposure in a healthy way.
Here’s some tips of how to stay sun safe:
1. WEAR CLOTHES: Shirts, hats, shorts and pants shield your skin, reducing burn risk.
2. TIMING IS KEY: Go outdoors in early morning or late afternoon when the sun is lower in the sky. Avoid the high midday times between 12-3 pm.
3. GET SHADY WITH IT: Stay in the shade under a tree or a canopy.
4. DON’T GET BURNED: Red, sore, blistered skin means you’ve gotten far too much sun.
5. SUNGLASSES: To protect your eyes from UV radiation. I love my prescription sunglasses.
6. PICK THE RIGHT SUNSCREEN:
Don’t fall for high SPF labels; pick something between 15 - 50 SPF.
AVOID VITAMIN A: in any skin or lip product that includes retinyl palmitate, retinol, or vitamin A.
AVOID OXYBENZONE: Because it is a synthetic estrogen and a hormone disruptor. Look for products with zinc oxide.

Spend time outside during the summer in a safe & healthy way without overexposing your skin to harmful effects of the sun! ☀️
I am happy to help you find the perfect sunscreen for you and your family. In our household, we LOVE the air-propelled sunscreen mist (so easy to apply). The kiddo doesn’t mind the face stick for quick coverage when we are outside most of the day. And for outdoor summer days, I swear by my daily moisturizer with SPF 28, to protect my face all day long. All of our sunscreens provide sun and blue light protection in a reef-safe, vegan-friendly, noncomedogenic, dermatologist-tested formulas.
